The 10 Best SEO Plugins for WordPress

Ready to get serious about your website's SEO? Great idea! That's why, this time, we're bringing you a list of the best SEO plugins for WordPress that we consider essential to save you plenty of time and be as efficient as possible.
Ready? Let's get to it!
How can an SEO plugin help your WordPress site?
Although an SEO plugin won't magically push your site to the top spot, it will help you manage all the pillars of an SEO strategy in a much simpler way.
If you're a beginner in SEO, besides recommending our SEO guide for WordPress, we're bringing you this list of plugins, which will help you learn how to create content that is much more SEO-oriented.
Now that you know this, let's dive in.
All-in-one SEO plugins
To kick off this list, we'll go over several alternatives for managing the most important SEO aspects of any website. It's important to emphasize that you should only have one of the three we present here installed at the same time, since having more than one can cause errors.
Rank Math
Rank Math is one of the SEO plugins that has grown the most in popularity in recent months. It's a plugin for our WordPress that allows a huge number of features, all free:

-
Structured data markup
-
404 monitor
-
Sitemap
-
SEO audit
-
and many more!
You can activate or deactivate each of these features yourself depending on your needs as an SEO. Our recommendation is that you only activate those you actually need.
In addition, as is common in this type of plugin, we have a complete settings panel where we can define titles, meta descriptions, sitemap settings, links, edit the robots.txt or the htaccess, ...

Another strong point is its writing assistant, within which you'll be able to choose different keywords and receive tips to optimize the content for that specific keyword. You shouldn't follow it to the letter, but it's useful as a guide, especially at the start of our career as SEO consultants.
Besides all its options, we also have fantastic, completely free support to consult technical questions in case of incompatibility problems with the plugin. Likewise, there's a Facebook group with a large community where you can discuss your SEO questions.
Nervous with so many options? Don't worry, it's normal, keep reading because we have the solution for you.
The SEO Framework
The SEO Framework is a simple plugin, easy to configure and with a free version that is more than enough for most users.

You'll find most of the settings in the SEO tab the plugin creates for us, such as configuring patterns for the title and meta description of each CPT type in our WordPress, creating sitemaps, inserting meta tags for social networks, inserting structured data markup...
It has fewer features than Rank Math, but, and here's one of its strong points, it's a much lighter plugin that doesn't hurt your site's speed. This is due to the great optimization it has in terms of resource consumption.
Yoast SEO

Yoast SEO is, without a doubt, the most popular SEO plugin for WordPress. It works similarly to Rank Math, but with a few fewer features since Yoast offers a premium version with more features (which we already have in the free version of Rank Math).
Additionally, the Rank Math plugin is lighter: fewer files, less code, and less weight.
Taking this into account, we always lean towards Rank Math, but if you have or acquire the premium version of Yoast, there aren't many differences compared to Rank Math.
The best SEO plugins for your WordPress
Easy Table of Contents
Easy Table of Contents is a fairly simple plugin that simply adds a table of contents to your posts, pages, CPTs, ...

This makes life easier for the user who wants to jump to a part of the post or get an outline of the whole content. Also, Google loves it since it helps it better understand the content structure and, on top of that, we can get a nice rich snippet:

WP Rocket
As you know, speed (WPO) has been a ranking factor for years:

For this reason, we couldn't miss the opportunity to advise you to use one of the best WPO plugins for WordPress on the market.
WP Rocket is an all-in-one WPO plugin with tons of features: cache, CSS and JS minification, DNS prefetch, ...
Does it all sound Greek to you? Don't worry, we also leave you the WPO Guide so you can better understand what we're talking about. In any case, the plugin is quite intuitive to set up and the results, if you do your job well, can be very promising...

But... all that glitters is not gold... because the plugin is paid, quite cheap for the value it offers, but paid.
If your budget is limited (or you're a bit stingy) we also have the solution for you with the combination of Autoptimize and WP Fastest Cache. In our opinion, it's not as powerful, but it's free ;)
SG Optimizer
SG Optimizer is a free WPO plugin developed by SiteGround. The problem is if your site isn't hosted on SiteGround, which by the way, is considered one of the best SEO hosting providers, because if it's hosted on another provider you won't be able to use it.
With it you'll be able to create static caches of your site, minify CSS and JS, optimize images, ...
It's a very complete plugin, but one that still doesn't give you all the options of WP Rocket. Despite this, if you're looking for a free plugin and your site is hosted on SiteGround, give this plugin a chance since in most cases it's more than enough.
Schema & Structured Data For WP
Rich snippets are one of the futures of SEO and for that we bring you Schema & Structured Data For WP.
It's a plugin that easily inserts a large number of structured data markup types. Plus, it has a very intuitive markup wizard with which you won't have any trouble setting up the type of markup you want:

This plugin has a very complete free version, but if you want to unlock its full potential you'll have to pay.
Another important aspect is its support, since despite having the free version, you'll have very responsive and fast support. And if you also get the paid version, you can request that new types of structured data markup be developed for you, impressive right?
AMP for WordPress
We've already mentioned that speed is a very important aspect for Google, but do you know what's even more important?
Your site's speed on mobile.
Don't worry, it's normal for your score in the tools to be lower on mobile since, usually, mobile devices have fewer resources than computers. For this reason, we advise you to try AMP for WordPress.

The settings of this plugin are quite simple and it usually works perfectly on most sites.
With this plugin you'll get an AMP version of the pages you want so you can break the speedometer.
If you're interested in the topic, we recommend our post about AMP to go deeper.
WPML
But, what if my site is in multiple languages? If you've taken a look at our page on international SEO, you'll have noticed that we mention hreflang tags. It's one of the SEO tags for letting Google know where it can find the equivalent pages but in other languages (it's a bit more complex but to keep it short).

WPML takes care of, besides helping you manage your site's translations into other languages, adding these annoying tags so you won't have any problem with our dear friend Google.
Super Progressive Web Apps
Super Progressive Web Apps is a plugin that lets you get a little closer to the future of the internet by turning your site into a Progressive Web App.
What, you don't know what that is?! Don't worry, we'll leave you our guide on PWA (Progressive Web Apps) and we'll keep your secret.
Basically, with this plugin we'll be able to create a fully functional application from our site that will make it accessible even without an internet connection or send notifications, among other improvements.

Conclusion
With this post we're not trying to turn you into a WordPress SEO expert overnight, but rather that you take advantage of some of the tools available to improve our results.
SEO plugins are great but we remind you that, in the end, the most important thing is the SEO strategy you set out.
As always, for any questions or queries, we'll be waiting for you in the comments.

I've spent the last 10+ years completely obsessed with SEO — and honestly, I wouldn't have it any other way.
My career hit a new level when I worked as a senior SEO specialist for Chess.com — one of the top 100 most visited websites on the entire internet. Operating at that scale, across millions of pages, dozens of languages, and one of the most competitive SERPs out there, taught me things no course or certification ever could. That experience changed my perspective on what great SEO really looks like — and it became the foundation for everything I've built since.
From that experience, I founded SEO Alive — an agency for brands that are serious about organic growth. We're not here to sell dashboards and monthly reports. We're here to build strategies that actually move the needle, combining the best of classical SEO with the exciting new world of Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) — making sure your brand shows up not just in Google's blue links, but inside the AI-generated answers that ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews are delivering to millions of people every single day.
And because I couldn't find a tool that handled both of those worlds properly, I built one myself — SEOcrawl, an enterprise SEO intelligence platform that brings together rankings, technical audits, backlink monitoring, crawl health, and AI brand visibility tracking all in one place. It's the platform I always wished existed.
